If the unit cannot be re-started right after it shuts down odds are high that your motor is overheating and tripping it's internal thermal cutout.

Try rotating the drum by hand, should turn fairly easily.
If not perhaps a drum support is worn.

Could be the motor is heavily clogged up with lint.

Could also be that the motor is toast.

my dryer will run for a min or 2 and then shut off. it isnt to hot and doesnt smell.
