You can pull the cover off the timer and check for badly burnt contacts.

Is there any way to check to see what one is broke? If its the motor again we will probably just get a new dryer:( but if its the timer we would probably fix it and run it till she dies again. Thanks for you help!!

Sounds like either the timer or the motor.

Yes, the dryer doesnt work no matter where I have the settings.

Does this happen in all the different cycles?

No go, do you have any other ideas as to what it could be??
Thanks for all the replies!!

Open the door. Have someone help you by pushing the door switch, simulating a closed door. As you push the start button, have your helper rotate the drum to see if it will begin to tumble. If you are able to do this, replace the motor. Please post your results.

Anyone else have an idea as to what the problem is??

The motor isnt what is humming though. THe button you push to start the dryer is what is humming. The motor doesnt make a sound.

Sounds like either a bad start winding in the motor, or oil got on the centrifical switch thus burning it out. If you leave the motor hum, does it heat up and shut down? Pull the dryer apart and see if the motor is seized, or something jamming it. Here are some parts motor 279827, start switch 3388235 The start switch is almost as expensive as the motor.
