You did not post a model number so I am going to assume this is a basic Whirlpool Direct Drive machine.

You need to check out the clutch, and if that is ok the drive block may have slipped and need to be replaced.

My 11-yr-old Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Heavy Duty Super Capacity (top-loading) washer's spin cycle is not working. When it gets to that point in the wash cycle, the water slowly drains, but the drum does not spin--just makes a constant clicking sound. I can manually turn the agitator if that makes any difference. Any suggestions???
