Bad_shot,

If your oven was "beeping out" an error code you'd hear it from every room of your house.

It's probably just a bad igniter.

Open the oven door and remove the oven bottom. There are two screws that hold it towards the back. Turn the oven bake cycle on. Does the igniter start glowing? If it does, what color is the glow? Anything but bright white = bad igniter.

You can certainly perform a more accurate test with a voltmeter and actually see what amperage the igniter is producing... if you have a voltmeter or don't mind buying one.

Anyway, let us know what you find.

Original igniter your oven model calls for: Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Ignter, oven, part number: AP3135265

Maytag brand igniter, may require the use of wire nuts (included), about $20 cheaper: Part Details - MAYTAG Oven / broiler igniter kit, flat style, part number: AP205873

The gas oven will not light(?). All other functions, including the Broiler and top burners work okay.

I've notice other posts where some units seem to display error codes. Not sure if this one does or not nor how to retreive them.

Any suggestions.
