Just pull the cover off the timer and check for burnt contacts, if your timer is all plastic that wouldn't be possible. They make timers very reliable now, particularly the plastic ones.

Thanks for the info...will go ahead and order a board. Motor never made any noise, checked motor resistance as instructed in wiring diagram and ohm'd out as suggested. I was just concerned if the timer could have caused the board to fail. Last couple of wash cycles seemed to last longer than normal just before machine quit working. Don't want to put new board in and then have it ruined by bad timer if that would be possible. Can timer be checked?

If the motor never made any strange noises like a bad phase winding, probably ok to replace the board. Check with the supplier, depending on the age of the machine, sometimes they recommend changing the motor also.

Motor will not run on Kenmore front load washer. Fuse on speed control board is open. Sears information sheet says to replace speed control board if fuse is blown. Should something else be checked before just replacing board or would just the board going bad cause the fuse to blow? Motor resistance checked out ok according to specs given in the information (wiring diagram) sheet. Any thoughts???
