I am not familiar with them, they may be contract repair techs for Sears. Do let us know what they do to fix it. You have an unusual problem and we certainly would like to know what was going on.
Good luck, hope they get everything up and going for you.

All I know is that Whirlpool calls it "Themister, Inlet" in their parts list. I have scheduled A & E Factory Service to come on Dec. 1. Do you have any comments re their service?

Yes, that is the part I found that corresponds to the factory part number
I don't think it has a thermistor in it, but check yours and see if it does.

That part number does not come up as a thermistor, but if there is a thermistor in your model that could also be the problem.

If it is this switch, why would the rinse fill water come in hot? Isn't it more likely that the fault is with the inlet thermistor (vacuum) unit, Whirlpool part no. 387606?

The wash temperatures have become reversed. When cold is selected, hot water flows in and vice versa. Similarly, the rinse water is now hot. (It should be cold.) I thought the hoses were reversed (unlikely since we've used the machine for 2½ years), but reversing them worked only once; then it went back to being reversed. What is wrong with this machine?
