Gene Good Morning
Well, it goes through the defrost cycle...no sizzle, no melting of frost, so will order up the heater kit. Not taking chance that thermostat works or doesn't I thank you for your help.

Hi Gene You there Sunday. Amazing.
Yes, if I go through enough clicks while compressor is running...it does stop running. What does that mean? Does it mean that the refrigerator is about to enter defrost mode? I looked at the heating unit and didn't see any melting or is that something I won't see for some time?
Once comprerssor stops running..in time sequence, how long does it take to enter defrost mode and what should I see happening in the freezer./coils which are coated with frost.
Thanks again. Bill

The compressor must stop right after that click. Gene.

Jim Jim, What is the complete model number of the refrigerator? Gene.

Hi Bill, The first thing I would do is slowly turn the shaft on the defrost timer until it clicks and watch if the defrost heater energized. If it does then the defrost timer is the culprit. If it does not then you have to check the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat for continuity. If the heater has gone bad it should be pretty visible.
