Finally found a heating unit for my Kenmore 400 dryer. However, there are only 2 terminals on the new unit and 3 on the old. I am thinking the third terminal on the old unit is feeding somethning else on the drier as it is common to one of the supplies. Also, the old unit had something that may be some kind of limit and the new does not have this. And now, the "prongs" on the new unit are too large to rbpdruVPRecieve the female source connections. Woe is me! I am not an electrican and I am 90 years old. Help! George

I do not know what the part you sent me looks like. I will have to get the repairman out here again to have him take it out and compare to your picture. We were given a part # 3977767 by a help desk person we called. Don't know if they are the same part or not...

Thank you for your help Joe. If we have further problems, I'll be back :(, just don't know exactly when that might be.

Martha,

The number they supplied you 3977767 , is a Hi limit thermostat (Only)

Part number: AP3131941
Part number: AP3131941

When you replace the hi limit thermostat, you also need to replace the thermal fuse, prt #3977393.

The part number supplied to you has both parts( hi limit and thermal fuse). and should solve the problem.

:) :) :)

He found a switch that acts, we think, like a thermostat by the heater coil. It has no continuity in it, however everything else he tested does have continuity. Thanks in advance for any help that might come.

Martha,

Do the "switches" look like this ?

Part number: AP3094244
Part number: AP3094244

If so, you'll need this part.

All thermostat "switches" should have a "Closed" circuit, at room Temperature. Apparently you have a heating problem with the dryer.

We have no diagram for your dryer, available at this time< but this little bit of info, should get the servicer through the repair.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)
