The element is held in place by some plastic nuts that side over the ends in the back. A wire is connected to each end and needs to be removed to get the nut off. If you remove the dishwasher, it is a very easy job to do, if not, you will need small arms to reach to the back of the unit to remove and remount the nuts and wires. When installing the new element, make sure the rubber seals are partially compressed and you shouldn't have any leaking problems.
