The controller is basically the Control Board, or the Clock. That board controls the oven only. The burners are controlled by their individual switch. Parts can be found at Sears Parts Direct.

I have been having a problem with my oven intermittently for the last several months. During the preheat, the oven will just shut off completely. Also, when the oven shuts off, the entire control panel goes blank (including the clock). After a few seconds, it seems to regain power and the clock flashes. On the rare occasion where the oven does preheat appropriately, it will shut off during cooking if I set the cook timer on the oven. When the oven does stay on, it works fine.

We have contacted a local repair shop and they suggested that it may be the 'controller' that is bad. I would like a second opinion on that as well as the proper name for the part as I am not finding a part specifically called 'controller' when I search for part numbers.

This is a GE Profile Gas Range.

Thank you.
