I had the same problem - I couldn't get the coupler off the way they show it in the video. Instead, I took the blender appart (4 screws under the rubber feet), held a screwdriver on the shaft that pokes through the fan, and used some channel lock pliars to grip and turn the coupler. It came off! Make sure you turn it clockwise.

I tried this but it was not coming off. I took the housing apart and was able to hold the shaft in place with a screwdriver but still could not get it off. This blender has been used almost daily for 5 or 6 years crushing ice, so the coupler is on pretty tight.
Any ideas?

I just bought the coupler and a new jar and am trying to figure out how to do this. Did you ever get any answer. I figured I'd ask before I start taking my blender apart.

I have a KitchenAid blender that needs the coupling replaced. It is a new style coupling, not like the ones shown in your forum. Here is a link to a picture of it: KitchenAid Part number: 9708914
Coupling Drive I have taken the machine almost entirely apart and cannot get the old coupling off. Please help! Thank you.
