The door latch on this Jennair oven is locked up and needs to be replaced. I know the part number but don't know how to get at the part. The door latch is attached by 2 screws to a plate on the front of the oven (the plate is at the top of the oven opening when the door is open). How do I remove this plate and then replace the door latch? There are 2 screws (one of each side of the trim plate but when I remove them the trim plate still doesn't come off. Does anyone know how to get at the door latch and replace it?
I figured it out by myself so here is the approach in case someone else needs the information. That is, to remove the trim plate which holds the door latch, first remove the 2 screws at the sides of the trim plate (ie, the 2 screws holding the black buttons). Then remove the 2 screws holding the door latch to the trim piece--this allows the whole trip piece to be pulled forward and removed. The door latch assy can then be removed from the wiring harness and replaced. put back in reverse order. (as it turns out, my door latch was not defective--a loose screw left during installation had fallen into the latch mechanism and jammed it. when i removed the jammed screw it now works properly. go figure).
