Gene. Gene, you are correct that the black wire that came extra with the shipment (called piggyback jumper) from the replacement instructions that came in the box connects to the L1 and the COM terminals. Make sure the piggyback (shorter compared to the opposite end of the wire) should be connected to the L1 terminal of the new board first prior to connecting the black wire from the old board. The piggyback has a tab on the side for the black wire from the old board to connect to. The opposite end of the extra black wire should be connected to the COM terminal (K2). I just installed the newly bought ERC board and it worked! Thank you Gene.:) Rico

There's a diagram that came in the box but it's not really clear cut where to attach it to. I followed your instruction to splice the 2 white wires (it could have been yellow when it was new. It turned to white now) and attached them to the 2 white wires. There were 5 wires for the new ERC as opposed to the 2 wires of the old plug.

Thanks Gene the information turned a two day headache into a 2 minute fix. You might want to include this info in the packet shipped with the replacement ERC. Thanks again!!!

Very likely this extra wire should connect the "L1" terminal with the "COM" relay terminal, but I would like to be sure about it. I spoke with the APP customer service and they should get more specific information from GE tomorrow.

Gene, We hooked up all the wires, turned the gas back on and tried to fire it up. It would not ignite. I do not need to light a pilot. It appears the ignitor switch is not working. The black wire from the "L1" terminal on the old board goes to the "L1" terminal on the new board.
The white wire from "N" terminal on the old board goes to the "N" terminal on the new board.
The green wire from the "GND" terminal on the old board goes to the "GND" terminal on the new board.
The pink wire from the "BA" terminal on the old board goes to the "NO" relay terminal on the new board.
You have to cut off the two yellow wires from the 3 pin old plug. These wires should be spliced with the two white wires (pin 4 & 6) from the plug supplied with the new board. All other wires from this plug should be insulated.
