The reply from Gene a few days ago was very helpful. We were able to repair our oven with no problem, just in time for Christmas. Thanks very much for your help. Bob :)

Unplug the range or turn off the circuit breaker. In order to access the igniter you have to remove the oven floor and the flame spreader.

I have a GE XL44 JGBS20 range, serial number GV127193P, in which the oven suddenly failed to light.. Apparently the oven igniter (part number AP2020569) has failed and needs to be replaced. Are there any detailed instructions available to show me how to remove and replace this part?
