For the Frigidaire washer, they have a sad history of partially or fully jamming of the tranny, just check.

:):D

Awesome advice! I have a GE stackable washer/dryer combo that had this exact problem! Burning smell, tub wouldn't move.

For my job I use small screwdrivers that can clip in my pocket like a pen. One had jammed in the tub!:o Better job checking my pockets from now on.

My unit is ~ 15 years old. The belt now looks glazed and just generally old. Since I have the washer open I think I will order a replacement belt.

Is this a good idea? Seems like I'm due.

Thanks,

Chris

Our washer has the following problem. Here are the symptoms:
-Washer does not spin but it does pump water
-The drive belt is slipping and burning
-I removed the agitator (the plastic part in the middle of the tub) and there was nothing jammed in there.
-i put a new belt on and no change
-when i took off belt and ran it the drive motor spun

Follow-up question: Is this part serviceable? Is it an all or nothing
