Remove the access panel (under the dryer) and look for the wiring diagram. According to this diagram and the picture of the part (bellow) the lid/lock switch assembly consists of two switches. The lid switch provides neutral for all parts of the washer except the motor while the second circuit for the motor goes through the lock. This is the failure suspect. - The part number for the lid switch/lock assembly is AP2108159 Gene.

Thanks Gene! I checked the switch/lock assembly. It is functioning normally. The water stops filling the tub when I open the lid. My dad is stumped as well! :)

The first thing I would check is the lid switch/lock assembly.

Hello All! :D
I have a Kenmore laundry center. I recently had the dryer motor replaced (which I probably could have done myself if I knew that was the problem) and $400 later was bummed when a month later my washer no longer agitates nor spin. I am not an expert but am mechanically inclined. I am the daughter of a mechanic! :) I do not want to get ripped off on this repair. :o I removed the front panel to inspect the belt and it is fine. The tub does fill up with water but does not spin nor agitate. Any suggestions! Please help a girl who is tired of being taken advantage of! :p
