Kenmoreoven Posted: Thursday, July 22, 2010 9:38:20 AM(UTC)

The kenmore built in oven sometimes overheats on the top element/broiler. It is intermitent. Sometimes it works fine, and then 3 weeks later it will get too hot after 10 minutes of baking and burn things from the top. A tech told us we needed a new clock/oven control and the part had switched to WB27T10265 (GE). When hecame out to install he realized the look of the part had switched and we now also need the contro panel with keybad/computer (the outside piece you see), which currently has no problem with it. The first part costs 150, the second part is closer to 350. There is nothing wrong with the second part they just say it's required to make the first part work (correct wiring). Do we have any other options and is the problem we're having actually this part. When the tech came out he turned the oven on for 5 minutes and said our problem was this part just based on what we told him. He said there was nothing to test.
