Thanks Gene, I might be able to convince the heating/cooling guy to stop over on his way home. He would be who I order the parts thru anyhow.

Without measuring the current it becomes kind of guessing because there are two questionable parts. In such situation I would replace the igniter first because it is more common and it cost much less.

Gene.

other than measuring the current is there any other way to tell. I dont own a meter nor do I know how to use one. :(

If the oven (Bake) igniter does glow but there is no the gas flow, very likely the problem is a bad igniter. You can verify it by measuring the current drawn by the igniter.

If it is 3.2 amps or less, replace the igniter.

If the reading is more than 3.2 amps, replace the gas safety valve.

As of late my oven has not been igniting. I set the temp and walk away only to return and its not working. I can get it to work after trying to turn it on and off several times in a row as well as slamming the door to attempt to "unstick" the valve(hoping that is the problem) It eventually lights after several attempts but I'm afraid I'm doing more damage if I continue to turn it on and off and slam the door.
Any clue what part it is I need to replace in order to get my oven back to "normal" working condition?
