I'm staying at my sister's house while she is away and the trash compactor door does not open. I do not see any answers posted that explains the problem or the solution?? It seems that the motor is still on from a slight hum that can be heard when you listen close. I have unplugged the unit for now, to be on the safe side. So what is the cure, beside calling to buy anew one. I am mechanical and willing to do surgery on the patient.
