When this noise happens, is there also a humming noise or a motor operation noise?

Old pump did not do this, but new drain pump pulsates after tub is drained. Tub empties quickly as before pump replacement, however, now there is a pulsating sucking noise, on about a 1 second cycle, after tub is drained in all modes of drain operation. Almost sounds like a valve is closing and opening?
