Mr. Sequoia was absolutely correct in his diagnosis, replaced the part and the spinning problem is solved. Thank you sir!

We would still however, like advice on getting the basket out if anyone reads this!

The washer fails to spin most of the time. Using the service manual tests we got a constant (rather than fluctuating) voltage on the spin speed indicator. It was staying at 5v when the basket was spun slowly by hand. We took the shifter out and tested the spin speed detector and it seemed ok. Put it back in and it now tested okay and actually spun for us once. But now is back to not spinning and reading a constant 5v again. Is it likely that the spin speed part of the shifter is flakey and should be replaced or is there something I am missing?

Also we followed the service manual instructions for removing the agitator and basket. We got the agitator out ok but the basket was stuck in. Is there anything else that needs to be removed after the agitator before the basket can be lifted out? Or does it just need a puller?

Thanks
