I would pull the cover off the timer and check for burnt contacts.

Remove The Motor And See If The Coupler Is Broke
Goldeneye32 Posted: Sunday, November 2, 2008 3:28:45 PM(UTC)

I have a whirlpool washing machine that will fill with water but will not agitate or spin. I have check the lid switch and wired it together to eliminate the lid. I as so check the capacitor which also checked out good. The timer sounds weird when I pull out the nob. The timer has never made this sound before, it sounds like something is grinding. When I move the timer between the different cycles trying to get it to work, sometimes the motor will humm. This leads me to think the motor is bad. I also removed the water pump from the motor as well. please Help.
