Hi Eric,
I had seen that very same webpage before where it explains how to insert a screw into the seal to remove it. I just wanted to get a second opinion to make sure I wasn't drilling into the actual gearcase. I tried it out and sure enough, after having to drill a small pilot hole, the screw pushed the seal right out. Very ingenious!
Thanks so much for your help.

While replacing the motor coupler a while back, I noticed some oil had leaked onto the floor. I took a closer look and could see a trail which started at the gearcase input shaft. I ordered the replacement seal, part #285352, which came in a kit of two parts. I watched a video showing the removal of the old seal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz1aDPYey8o (you can skip to the 2:10 mark of the video). However I have a feeling that the old seal is missing. Here are some photos of my machine: http://webpages.charter.net/mrf...pool/Gearcase-seal-1.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/mrf...pool/Gearcase-seal-2.jpgI do have a vague recollection from many years ago about finding a part under the washing machine which looked like it could be a seal. My question is, does it appear from the above photos that the seal is missing? If not, how do I remove it? I tried using a screwdriver but came up empty looking for the seal. Thanks for your reply. :)
