Good evening,

A few days ago we noticed that the freezer side of our refrigerator was not as cold as it should be. Some of the items in there were frozen solid while others were not, ie: ice cream. It also appears that the ice maker has stopped making ice since yesterday.

I checked the temps inside the freezer and it varied from 25 to 30 degrees F. The controls in the fridge side are both set to the factory recommended 4.

I cleaned out the freezer compartment and vacuumed underneath to clean the coils out the best I could and it's pretty clear of dust. I also took the back panel off of the freezer side and saw that the condenser coil was iced up about 3 inches from the bottom and also up along the tube that goes up to the condenser fan as well. The condenser fan was running.

I also took the lower back panel off to see if it needed cleaning out but it wasn't that bad. I vacuumed out what little dust was in there anyway. I noticed that the compressor was running and the fan was blowing air on it.

I then went through the 4 diagnostic routines and the results were as follows:
Step 1. - Showed the internal board test Passed.
Step 2. - I was able to see the Defrost Heater turn on and temped it out at about 225 deg F.
Step 3. - I heard the Evaporator Fan come on.
Step 4. - I heard the Compressor come on.

I have no way of testing freon but I can make voltage checks if need be. I put it all back together though about two hours ago and the freezer is back down to 39 degrees F and completely empty.

Any help to get me going in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve
