Unplug the unit and measure across the contacts with a meter
OR
You could pull the sensor line and hold it in your hand to warm it up, the fridge should stay on.

Often it is just the process of elimination if all else is OK then all that is left is the thermostat

Ignore the compressor for now, check the evaporator fan and condenser fan.

If neither come on then when thermostat at coldest setting then the problem is either the thermostat or the defrost timer (contacts 1 to 4).

The fan only comes on for a few minutes. How do I check the thermostat?

My refrigerator stopped cooling. I removed the panel from the back and found the fan nor the compressor were working. THe light in the refrig however is on. I pulled the relay and shook it, which did not seem to have any loose parts that made noise. I also moved the thermostat from the 3 setting to off, then back on. Each time, I could hear the compressor come on, but it goes off within just a few minutes. Not sure what to do next....
