If you are talking about the two optic PC boards (emitter & receiver) on both sides in the freezer, this is not too difficult to replace them yourself if you know how to handle a simple tools. The PC board kit will cost you just $86.23, so you can save almost $200.

It says kenmore but the repair guy said it's actually a whirlpool. The model number is 106.52693100. Thx.

Just got an estimate to replace my ice maker control board for $280. Is this a good price? Is this something that is easily replaced by an amateur? Please help.
