From Mgfny: I experimented by using JB-Weld as an insulator. I carefully applied a generous amount all around the connector end, but not on the connector itself. I applied it all the way up to the underside of the igniter collar. It worked perfect! No more arcing and burners ignite instantly!
I used the slow-dry JB-Weld and not the quick-dry. Long term I'm not sure if JB can take heat. The specs say it will withstand 600F.

Hello: I replaced surface igniter because it was arcing inside the porcelan insulator (visible looking in above). The new electrode part #8523793 is arcing underneath from the connector terminal to the collar on the igniter. This can be seen from the front with the knob cover removed. How do I prevent this? Anyone got any ideas on this on? Thnks in advance,----Mgfny
