Be sure to unplug or remove power from the unit when replacing the element.
On most units one side of the element is still live even with the element turned off.

Also when you pull the element forward it is a good idea to clip something (clothespin etc.) to the wires so they do not disappear into the back of the stove before you get the new element attached.

I am replacing the lower heating element on the upper oven. How do I remove the oven door?
