I'm assuming this is a glass top range with the burner under the glass. Cycling of the element is normal, meaning glowing red for a few seconds and shutting off and continuing that cycle. Is this range new to you or have you owned it for awhile and recently having problems with it? If you have owned it for awhile and it has just started doing this, then I would suspect the switch being bad, but like I said it actually sounds like it is working normal based on your description.

Good day.

I have a bit of a problem with my "speed element" front burner; when I turn it on any intensity, it becomes red and shuts off after 2-3 seconds and "tries" again, for as long as I leave it turned on. It can't reach any decent temperature anymore.

I bought a cheap refurbished burner and it does the exact same thing, so my guess that it might be the burner itself was wrong... before I go ahead and buy another part that would not end up being the issue, has anyone experienced or heard about this issue? I've seen opposite effects reported (burner will never shut off once turned off except using breaker/unplugging) and changing the switch fixed it.

Am I looking in the right direction? Thank you
