I am the OP. I have read and studied more, and I am going to replace the ignitor based on the fact that is probably not drawing enough current to open the safety valve. It does have a small black spot in the middle of it, upon closer inspection.

This kenmore oven will not light. The ignitor glows, but no gas flows. It has a broiler in the top of the oven (the drawer has a electric warming element) that does work just fine. The surface burners work just fine. Only the oven burner will not light. I have measure the resistance on the capillary thermostat and it is prox 1.2K at just over room temperature. Also when I unplugged the thermostat, the control panel showed a code. Any thoughts?
