Is yours the same model number? Does this part look like your latch?

If so, you might be able to reach in with something thin enough but strong enough to push the latch up and release the door.

Or you could invest in a set of these.

Epay also has them at about the same price. auct. 191348606804

My question has been asked with no reply. My door is closed with food inside. Wire linkage to latch is broken. Is there a "work around" manual way to open door? I have tried to remove oven cover but star screw has a pin center requiring a special tool.

The simple wire linkage connecting the door to the interlock on our Amana Radarange Touchmatic RS-40 (mfg. 1988) broke with the door closed. Now we can't get the door to open.

After removing the sheet metal cover, I see an access hole to the interlock, presumably to open the door manually. But I can't figure out how it works. Push something in? Insert something and move up-and-down or side-to-side? Insert and rotate a special tool?

I don't have (and haven't been able to find) a service manual. Can anyone help? How do you open the door with a broken linkage to the interlock? Or, does anyone have a service manual for this venerable microwave?
