Our hood control contains 4 push buttons for the vent. When turning off the vent or changing speeds, one of two push buttons fly out of the control panel and land on the floor. The push buttons are completely smooth cylinders and they slide over a tiny square plastic shaft within the control panel. There is no tight fit. Only two of the four buttons do this.

Our unit is 1 1/2 yrs old. I contacted Whirlpool for advice and they told me they were unable to assist. Everything else works fine.

Looking at the parts schematic, it looks like we may need to replace the control panel, part. no. W10313847.

1. Do you think this is the solution to this seemingly simple problem?
2. If so, how do I get into the inside of the hood to replace this part?

Thanks.
