Like Carl, I have a roaring dryer as well. My dryer is a Maytag washer from 1994 (I think). Model number LDE8904ACE. It seems to start with a loud roar and what sounds like a bump or jolt. The roar subsides somewhat as it goes but is still much louder than before. On occasion, it sounds like it slows way down then speeds back up (at least according to my wife as I have not heard that happen). I attribute that to larger loads causing the tumbler belt to slip.
Because I am thinking the tumbler is the problem, I should have to replace the bearing kits front and rear and the tumbler belt. There is a pulley on the moter that might have to be replaced as well. Is there anything else that you might recommend that might fix this problem or that I might have over looked? - Stan

Do I need to put any kind of lubricate on the roller shafts? No but I would clean the shafts and check that they are not worn.

Frank or denman,
Once apart it seemed to be the rollers. Blower not loose and one roller had flat spot. 4 new rollers arriving today and new belt. Do I need to put any kind of lubricate on the roller shafts?
Thanks Carl

Thanks Carl Looks like a couple of screws on the back. Then the top will lift off. You may have to remove the control panel also, to get the front bulkhead off, which will help you see everything better. I believe the link below with the parts breakdown will help you out.

Thanks Carl Could be a rollers, depending on the noise. I'd be more apt to look at the blower if the noise is fast noise, if that makes sense. They can get pretty noisy when they get loose on the motor shaft, or something could be contacting it. Part number: AP2912089
