Hi Doc

It is possible it is the start switch, but more likely the motor. Given the age of your machine a replacement might be the better course then investing heavily in parts on speculation.

Yesterday the Kenmore electric dryer would start if I pushed the button and held it for several seconds (while it made a buzzing/loud humming noise). A couple of loads later it would buzz but never start. After a few seconds it seems to "trip" off. If I waited a few minutes, it would buzz again when button pressed and held but never start. Is it the starter button or some relay?

Older model so no computer chips. Power checked, door latch checked etc.
