Check the motor to see if it is free. Try turning it by hand, may be stuck seal. This happens when not used much.

We have a 20+ year old Hotpoint dishwasher, model HDA 795-01. Used infrequently. When I turned it on last, it only made a buzzing sound, not the loud noise a dishwasher will normally make. I advanced the dial to the Quick Wash start, and water slowly entered. I had to leave at that point. When I returned hours later, dishes in the machine were still wet (despite the Heat Dry option turned on), and there was a lot of standing water at teh bottom of the tub. Thanks for any help.
