It did come apart. Took a bit more effort that I was expecting, but it pulled away. Sure enough the front end of the impeller was completely sheared away from the base.

To see how it's done. I got all the way to rotating the motor assembly the expected 45 degrees, but the motor will not pull away from the circulation pump housing as shown in either video. It feels like there's something holding the motor in place from the inside. I felt around the flange as best as I could and it does feel like it has loosened from the outside. It just won't pull away. Need help.
