Model Number: 417.44052401 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
My Kenmore Front Loader will not spin in the final spin cycle. The pump comes on and drains the water, however it will not spin.
I have searched many sites/threads and seem to find that a common problem is the control board going bad. When I look up the parts listing for my washer, there are two boards. One is called control board. It is located in the top of the washer and has all the LED's and buttons attached to it. The other is called control board, motor. It is located in the back bottom right hand corner of the washer. Each part is >$100 and I dont want to buy the wrong one. The error code I think I am getting is E41 - control board thinks the door switch is open. I have also come across a wax switch problem on other threads. Anyone know a way for me to isolate the bad part without wasting money on the wrong part? Ads By Google Related Models |

If it's a board it will be the motor controller (the one at the bottom). If the door is locking htat is most likely your problem. You can try to confirm by removing the motor control board. sometimes a resistor will actual burn making the diagnosis a no brainer, but not always. I know I'd feel better about spending the money with a confirmed diagnosis.
If not burned, reinstall board and try the step by step for no motor movement on the touble sheet located in the lower part of hte washer. To do this you will need a volt meter. |

Thanks for the advice. For some reason my particular washer does not have the tech sheet inside of it (this type of luck occurs often with me).
I have seen multiple postings about the door switch; most point out that just because the door is locking, does not mean the switch is functioning properly. Its more than just an open/close circuit. I found a new switch on ******** for $17. SInce that is the cheapest route, I will try that first. If it does not solve my problem, I will most likely replace the motor control board ( I have inspected it and nothing obvious sticks out). I will post an update after the switch comes in. Thanks again for the tips. |
