Washer Throwing Belt

Model Number: fwt445ges2 Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years

I just replaced the belt but as soon as the washer hit high spin it throws the belt. It appears the old belt was cutting into the drum so this tells me the old belt was riding tight to the drum. It's now throwing it off toward the rear. Is the pulley supposed to have any keepers on it? Is the Pulley surface supposed to be smooth? How do I keep the new belt in place?
