Working On Kenmore Elite He3t Washer For Making Banging Noise When In Spin Cycle. Have Checked Bearing And Appears To Be Ok. Noticed That Drum Is Actually Been Contacting Back Panel As Panel Is Dented From Contact. Also Noticed That The Front Plastic Drum Is Wearing And Chiping Off. I Am Guessing This Is Due To The Vibraiton And Banging. I Have Been Looking At The Four Shocks As A Possible Cause. I Removed One And Am Unsure How Much Resistance It Should Have. I Can Compress It Fairly Easily. Any Suggestions Thanks.

If you do not see any obvious problem with the springs or other support items go ahead and change out the strut supports. This is a difficult problem to diagnose without seeing it, so you are going to have to thoroughly examine things, but if you don't find anything the support struts are most likely the problem.

I found how to put into diagnositic mode and in the spin cycle at 1200 rpm the thing sounded like a machine gun. After further inspection i noticecd that the noise felt and seemed to be coming from inside the plastic tubs I had already removed rear pulley and belt and the bearing did not show any signs of failure. I than grabed tub at 12 and 6 and pushed and pulled. I rotated tube and did this again at the three different spots that the rear tub mounts to spindle. I found one spot that flexed and made noise while moving tube. This would indicate that one of the three legs have broken. The tub has a lifetime warranty for parts only still an expensive fix. The extended warranty we bought expired in march. Sears will not warranty the part unless install by them, to bad I am sure I could do this myself. Called sears back to set up service and the nice lady told me that the service man would offer to sell me a new extended warrany after he made repairs. I half jokeingly asked her to sell it to me now and repair my machine. She said you know we were out there in February for a regular manitance service, let me make some phone calls. Called me back and was able to sell me a new extended warranty and now they will cover entire machine for another year and my repair will be free. Warranty cost me $220.00. Sometimes things can go good. Thanks for your response.

Dennis, I am having an issue were I need to replace the belt. Does the pulley on your machine wiggle even when the nut is fully tightened? Mine is loose and it has a lot of play rotating it left and right to spin the drum. This doesn't seem normal to me.

pulley should not have any play in it when nut is tight. Make sure the shaft or pulley does not have wear. The pulley sould not even move even if nut is not tight. The nuts primary purpose is to just keep pulley tight on shaft. Good luck.

I get the error message noted above "F" and then "dL". Any ideas to get passed this error message to get the machine working?
