We have a 6 year old Whirlpool Duet washing machine. Lately, once and a while it will not drain completely. Sometimes we will find a little water under the clothes, other times the tub will be filled almost 1/2 way.
Many repair shops will not directly answer any questions. They want us to make an appointment to have a service person come by. A few have offered the suggestion that the mother board may be preparing to go out.

Again - the problem is sporatic. 5 - 8 loads may drain and spin as expected - then one load will not spin the water out. The cycle makes no sense. We have had water in the tub after returning from out of town. This has happened 2 times only in the last three months.

Is this the mother board dictating the eratic behavoir? Is replacement the only cure?

My husband is very technical and has been very capable in repairing our appliances in the past. I do realize that more and more appliances do have "mini computer" parts however.
