I have a washer that's quit agitating and spinning. I pulled the front and observed the parts inoperation.

The motor, belt and trans pulley all spin, but there's no motion of the transmission. agitator, or internal drum at any point.

There's a warning sticker that notes that the tran housing spins, so I gave it a twist. It's very difficult to move, but it does move.

Is it safe to assume the trans is shot, or are there other things to check?

It turns out that the white plastic piece that the agitator attaches to has stripped splines where it attaches to the trans output shaft.

Sound as if the belt is too loose. You need to tighten up on the tensioner and then you may have good success
