This is a belt-driven top loading washer.
I am experiencing the same problem as previously described for Maytag waher and others: The basket spins while agitating.
The posts were most helpful. I most likely need need to replace the brake.
Can someone provide a link to Whirlpool the repair manual and to a source of parts/tool.
(and also provide practical advice/helpful tips if you have one this kind of repair)
Thank you very much in advance.

Tilt the washer foward, remove the back panel and check the spin solenoid plunger. Probably broken. You can check by pulling the belt to turn the idler pulley. The spin slide bar should move to disconnect the clutch from the idler pulley. If not, this confirms a busted pin in the spin plunger.
It probably would be best to remove the tranny to fix this.
