Default How to replace front seal on Kenmore washer
Model Number: Elite He3   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 1 - 5 years

Hi,

My Kenmore Elite washer started leaking and I notied that front seal was shredded. Ordered the part from here, part no. AP3128710 (8181850). Took the shredded seal out and it seemed like it was held in by a clamp. But trying to put new seal on has been a challenge! I am trying to just sort of place it around the border and there is not enough space to make it fit all around. Any easier way to do this or do I need to take apart some more parts? Its the side which faces inside the washer which is tricky. I just can't get it secured tight around the border!

Any tricks or ideas??

I did this repair 9 months ago. exact steps are a little hazy, however I did it with minimal tear down. access was thru the bottom access cover and door opening. i did remove the 2 screws at bottom of front cover. if memory serves me correct, there is a large hose style clamp on the tub side. and a spring clamp at the door side. i removed the tub side first. really dont remember if i put the tub or the door side on first remember, that if you have a hard time getting rubber over liped metal, a little dish soap works miracles. good luck
