Model Number: GSQ9631LWO Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a Whirlpool Gold top loading washer, model number GSQ9631LWO, serial number CM3302065. It's about 8 years old. The machine seemed to be working normally until it got to the spin cycle. Then there was a rather loud CLACK, CLACK, CLACK sound.

I just went through something similair myself with a whirlpool, Loud noise sounded like something clunking in the washer during spin cycle. I found getting the transmission off and apart fairly easy, Once inside it there was one gear torn up pretty badly (plastic gear). In the process of replacing it now! Not a cheap gear tough for mine, SOmething like 60 bucks...
Gearcase replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LSR5232LQ0 | AppliancePartsPros.com number 25 is Mine, type your model number in and see if it comes up with the same piece! Prior to taking apart the tranny I found no sure test to tell what it was other then trying to turn it by hand and feeling the rough spot in it. |
