The Lid switch assembly which is fastened to the underside of the washer top panel has broken off. I need to replace it, but before ordering a part I need to know how to open the top panel to remove broken piece and replace with new assembly. I cannot find a release anywhere to remove or tip up the top of the washer. I tryed slipping a putty knife into the slot between the top panel and front but there doesn't appear to be a latch located there.

Some models the lid does not flip up, the whole cabnit flips down.

Take the controls of the back of the unit (typically two screws to free it up) then on the top of the washer you should see two large clips on both sides. Release these and the whole front os the washer cabnit just slides forward.
