We have a GE S3200Y1WW washer that still washes fine...but every time it goes into a spin cycle, it spins VERY wobbly and rough. It's almost like there's an unbalanced load in there, only it does it even without anything in the tub at all.
The damper straps have a little "play" in them, and have a slight curve in them that forms a sort of shallow C-shape. And someone told us that they're supposed to be real straight and tight, with no looseness at all. Is that right?
Any suggestions, advice greatly appreciated.

The damper straps should be straight, but I don't think they are the cause of your problem. I have had machine run fine with all four broken.

Run the machine with the front off and see if you can determine the problem. Pay specific attention to the suspension rods, this part here.
