Default GE Washer won't drain
Model Number: WLE4000B1WW   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

When this problem started, The tub would drain normally after wash cycle. Then after rinse cycle, machine would only make a motor noise and wouldn't drain. After moving dial around to wash again, it didn't drain after wash cycle. I removed front cover, and removed pump. Inspected hole in bottom of tub, and the output tube from the pump, both to be unobstructed. Connected the wires back to the pump(while pump was removed) and ran the machine. I can see the impeller blades turning normally. Water will drain if I hold the waste pipe from washer, horizontally into a bucket, but not when its vertical into the house drain. I reinstalled the pump, and still have same problem. I unplugged washer and left it over night, next morning I plugged it back in, and it drained normally only after wash cycle again. Does the pump's impeller blades supposed to move like a car starter(in and out) in order to pump the water, or does it pump water just by spinning the impellers?
