I have a kenmore series 90 top load washer and I need to replace the dog ears on the agitator, but I cannot get the agitator off. How do it remove it?

Hi aaulidge,
I'm no expert at these things but im learning a lot by fixing my washer. If taking off the agitator is similar to all washers then you can follow these instructions:
1) Pry off the top part of the agitator with your hands. I don't know what your washer looks like but on mine its the top most part where you add the fabric softner. It easily comes of w/o any tools.
2) Once this is off, look inside and you'll notice a hex screw deep inside the agitator. You'll need an extension rod for your socket wrench to take this out. This is the screw that connects the agitator to the transmission shaft.
3) Once you taken out the screw simply put your fingers at the underside of the agitator and lift up. Voilla!
Let me know if this helps. There are several videos on "you tube" that show how this is done for a typical washer. have fun don't give up!
