Default Washer drum not balanced
Model Number: 82873800   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

Bought a washer 3rd hand from a friend of a friend. I'm unsure exactly how old it is.

We had some trouble getting it moved and probably jarred something loose. My dad consulted a parts place and we noticed that the water spout at the top where the water enters the drum seemed loose. Diagnosis was a potential leaky seal in the outer plastic tub and the loose spout. We ended up tearing it down to the base to replace the tub seal.

The water spout is new and the seal has been replaced. However, there is still a leak. The drum has a lot of "give" to it and seems out of place. You have to shove it forward to get all the water in the drum. Every time it rinses I have to shove the drum forward to make sure all the water goes in.

Any suggestions? My (completely amateur) thought is when replacing the stabilizer plate, we didn't get it in right. Hence the drum is not being held up enough in the front to get all the water in. Dad is thinking of propping it up more but its up on as much as it will go and about 2 inches more on stacks of paper. Any suggestions on what we could do to get the drum stable again? It spins, its just slumped forward.

P.s. your diagram links in another forum reply were very helpful in the first repair. We couldn't really get the stablizer plate in well and couldn't really see where it went which might be part of the problem.

Suggestions from the experts? We would really hate to tear it down again I admit.
