Washer fills, normal agitation, then stops B4 drain cycle. no sounds, seems to just turn off. when forwarded to rinse cycle, there is a barely audible hum. So I have a washer full of water and bedsheets. What to do ?

PS, If it matters, I did push/pull on/ off knob several times to no avail.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
